3DS Press Conference Stealthily Announces Culdcept and Calciobit

The obscure titles that get shown during a video reel in press conferences always interest me, and the Nintendo 3DS Press Conference in Japan last night did not disappoint on that front. Many of the titles discussed and shown were already known, but two unannounced titles caught my glance: Culdcept and Calciobit.

Culdcept is a strategy, card and board game series that dates back to 1997 on the Sega Saturn, and since that time, iterations of the game have hit the PlayStation, Dreamcast, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS. Since North America has only seen two titles grace it's shores, many gamers may be unfamiliar with the series, and while the likelihood of the title coming to any English-speaking country is probably low, I can't help but hope for it's release. I put several hours into the Xbox 360 release published by Namco Bandai in 2008, and I can honestly say I enjoyed the game, even if it is tremendously punishing.

Calciobit is a soccer game, and truthfully, I know very little about it. The original Calciobit was published by Nintendo in 2006 for the Game Boy Advance and was only released in Japan. The game was developed by ParityBit, the developer of the Derby Stallion series of games. Though, there is no confirmation whether ParityBit is handling the 3DS version (even if Gamefaqs tries to tell me otherwise).

Both games are planned for a 2012 release date, and although I could not find a version of the trailers to embed into this post, flash versions can be found here and here.

Update: The folks at Tiny Cartridge found embeddable trailers. Thanks!
