Pocket Releases - October

October is underway, so here's a look at what's out and what's coming for the month. It's a little late, but that's OK, as there are plenty of games still coming for this month's Pocket Releases.

Aliens: Infestation (10/11) - An Aliens game that plays somewhat like Super Metroid, but features multiple characters to play as? No game over here, man. Hopefully, we'll have some more details about this game from Sega and WayForward before too long. I'm always up for a Metroid style game, so I'll be picking this title up for certain.

Professor Layton and the Last Specter (10/17) - Professor Layton is back and likely closing out the series on the DS with the Last Specter. This release not only has the classic story and puzzle combos you've come to love, but also weekly free downloadable puzzles and a full on RPG called Professor Layton's London Life as well.

Tetris Axis (10/2) - Just imagine Tetris, but with twenty different modes. If you can do that, you pretty much know what you're getting with this. With AR and 3D additions, it's about par for the course, but hey, it's Tetris. I can't help but think this would have been better suited for the eShop, but if you do pick it up, you might have a rare item on your hand someday, as Tetris DS is hard to find for cheap.

Skylanders Spyro's Adventure (10/16) - Skylanders Spyro's Adventure apparently has some kind of collectable component where you can gather and use Skylanders to help you in the game. I really have no idea what is involved here, so hopefully more information will become available before too long, as the game is out soon.

Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns (10/25) - I touched on the DS version last month, so nothing really new to add here.

Centipede: Infestation (10/25) - Much like last month's Frogger 3D, Centipede: Infestation is a brand new 3D title where a guy named Max is out to play hero/pest control worker in an attempt to help out his girl Maisy, someone whose garden can revive the planet. While I'm not putting much stock in the story, it could be a good revival unlike so many other classics trying to reboot.

Heavy Fire: The Chosen Few (10/25) - I know absolutely nothing about this title other than the fact that it's tied into the Heavy Fire: Afghanistan on-rails shooter title due out around the same time. Hopefully Mastiff can help shed some light on this for us.

NBA 2K12 (10/4) - This is likely the last NBA game to show up on the PSP, so if you're tired of waiting for the pros to actually be able to play this season, you can get this to play on the go. One of the game's biggest selling points is the NBA's Greatest mode featuring fifteen legendary players such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Dr. J.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Impact (10/18) - Naruto fans rejoice, you don't have to wait until 2012 to play the latest Naruto game on your home console. Cyberconnect2 is bringing this cel-shaded anime series to the PSP with over twenty different characters from across the series.

That's it for October. I left off a ton of shovelware and stuff that no one (read: me) cares about, like Spider-Man: Edge of Time (licensed crap) and Pokemon: Rumble Blast (Pokemon mini-game cash in). If I've missed anything of substance though, let me know.
